Golf Handicap Calculator
Compute your handicap index from your score differentials using the World Handicap System: the average of your best differentials (best 8 of your last 20 rounds, or a graduated selection for fewer rounds).
Inputs explained
- Score differentials (comma-separated) — Your score differentials from recent rounds, oldest first, separated by commas. A differential is (adjusted gross score − course rating) × 113 ÷ slope rating. At least 3 are needed.

Understanding the result
Example: With five differentials of 10.2, 12.4, 9.8, 14.1 and 11.5, only the single lowest (9.8) counts, giving a handicap index of 9.8.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the number of rounds used change depending on how many I have? The World Handicap System uses a graduated table — for example, only your single lowest differential counts if you have 5 rounds, while up to 8 of your best 20 count once you have a full 20-round history, so the averaging becomes more comprehensive as you log more rounds.
Is a lower or higher handicap index better? Lower is better — it means your rounds are closer to the course rating, so a 9.8 handicap indicates a stronger player than someone with a handicap of 20.
