Trapezoid Calculator
Find the area, perimeter, and median of a trapezoid from its two parallel sides, height, and legs.
Inputs explained
- Parallel side a — One of the two parallel sides (bases).
- Parallel side b — The other parallel side.
- Height — Perpendicular distance between the parallel sides.
- Leg c — One non-parallel side, used for the perimeter.
- Leg d — The other non-parallel side.

Understanding the result
Example: A trapezoid with parallel sides 4 and 6 and height 4 has area (4 + 6)/2 × 4 = 20.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the area only need the parallel sides and height, but the calculator also asks for the legs? Area is fully determined by the two parallel sides and the height, but the legs (the two non-parallel sides) are required to compute the perimeter, since perimeter needs all four side lengths.
What is the median of a trapezoid? The median (or midsegment) is the line connecting the midpoints of the two legs, and its length always equals the average of the two parallel sides, (a + b) / 2.
Is the Trapezoid Calculator free to use? Yes — it is completely free, with no sign-up, no download and no usage limits. You can use it as often as you need.
Is my data private? Yes. The calculation runs entirely in your browser — the values you enter are never sent to our servers, stored or shared with anyone.
What information do I need? Just the following: Parallel side a, Parallel side b, Height, Leg c, Leg d. Each field includes a hint explaining exactly what to enter.
Can I use it on my phone? Yes — the tool is fully responsive and works on any device, and the same calculator is available in the EasyWorkCalcs mobile app.
